The NCA Photo Show Project Presents:
New Orleans City Park Carousel
The Reopening of the New Orleans City Park
New Orleans, LA
Made by Bartholomew Murphy, 1906
Photo show courtesy of Greg Nance

In November, 2007, the City Park carousel in New Orleans re-opened its doors during the park's annual festival, The Celebration in the Oaks.

Hurricane Katrina caused serious damage to the building, deck, and band organ, as well as moderate damage to the figures and mechanism, but you'll see from these pictures that the carousel is looking as good as new.

This carousel was scheduled to receive its 100 year award in 2006, but the presentation of the NCA centennial plaque was postponed until November 16, 2007.

Our congratulations go out to the people in New Orleans for their effort in restoring this carousel.

In addition to this special presentation photo show, a photo show of pictures taken in 2002 is also available.
